To me, HRTS represents the greatest community we have in all of the entertainment industry. While we spend most days playing in the same sand box we call “Hollywood,” they are days filled with the strains and strife of pitching, selling, buying, negotiating, producing, scheduling, editing and so on. If we could step back, rise above the daily grind for just a moment, we’d see the most fabulous business in the world; a business that in the end gets to a final product that entertains, and at times, educates people. What a fabulous thing… we work, we make money, meet interesting people, cajole smart people, to in the end, make a product that entertains millions of people on a daily basis. From its luncheons, to Junior HRTS and the organization’s on-line presence, HRTS celebrates our community in a way that often gets lost in the aforementioned daily grind. When we are old and retired and are no longer a part of “the action,” we will look back and say ‘those were the good ole days.’ I think in some way HRTS reminds us that the good ole days are here now, around us in every meeting, in every lunch, in every conversation and on every set.
I look forward during my term to keeping the tradition of HRTS in a straight line of what we all already know and appreciate, by bringing to the organization and its members more diversity in the way of new information, technologies and people that make up our rapidly changing business.
On behalf of myself, the HRTS Board and the hard working HRTS staff, I thank you for your support and look forward to seeing you soon at an HRTS event.
